What To Do When Your iPhone Screen Cracks
A cracked screen is usually manageable if you handle the first few steps correctly. This checklist helps you protect the device, reduce risk of additional damage, and prepare for a faster repair appointment.
First 10 Minutes
- Remove loose glass from your hand and keep the phone away from your face.
- Put the phone in a case if possible to limit additional pressure on the screen.
- Back up to iCloud or your computer as soon as the device is stable.
- Take photos of the damage so you can send clear context for an accurate quote.
What Not To Do
- Do not press hard around the cracked area to “test” the glass.
- Do not use household glue, liquid screen repair kits, or strong tape adhesives.
- Do not ignore signs of deeper damage such as display flicker or touch dead zones.
- Do not expose a cracked phone to moisture or steamy environments.
Quick Damage Check Before Booking
- Is touch response normal across the whole screen?
- Are there black spots, lines, ghost touches, or severe dim areas?
- Does the front camera/Face ID area look physically impacted?
- Is the frame bent or lifted around the display edges?
- Are there signs of battery swelling or screen separation?
Sharing these details up front helps your repair quote stay accurate and avoids delays on appointment day.
When To Stop Using The Phone Immediately
Power down and stop use if you notice any of the following:
- Display lifting away from the frame
- Overheating near impact areas
- Strong battery smell, swelling, or warping
- Severe flickering, complete black screen, or random touch activity
How To Prepare For A Smooth Repair Visit
- Back up data and make sure you remember your device passcode.
- Charge the phone above 30% if possible.
- Remove accessories/cases before technician arrival.
- Be available at your selected appointment window.
